The Merry Melange

Pick a pretty glass, and toss in a small handful of frozen cranberries.  Pour in (at least) enough gin to cover the cranberries.  Fill the glass to 2/3 with apple juice, then add a dash of vermouth.  Lastly, fill your glass the rest of the way with seltzer for a little holiday sparkle.

Bitchin' Bourbon Balls

Don't want to stop consuming bourbon, but need to eat something?  Here!

Ingredients:
12 cups crushed vanilla wafers (4 boxes)
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
6 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
4 3/4 cups chopped pecans, divided
4 1/4 cups powered sugar, divided
3 cups bourbon

Directions:
In large bowl, mix all the ingredients together.  Refrigerate for 24 hours.  Roll into balls, and roll the balls in the remaining powdered sugar and chopped pecans.

Did somebody ask you to bring a dessert to a potluck, but liquor is really more your spirit?  Whip out your favorite bourbon, and whip up a batch of these little devils.  They couldn't be simpler, you just have to remember to make the batter a day early so it has time to firm.

Purple Poison

Guest recipe concocted by: Katie Higgins-Beer

Ingredients:
1 part orange juice
1 part cranberry juice
1 part vanilla seltzer
1 part Tabasco tequila
frozen dark cherries

This intriguing potion captures the senses and leaves them deliriously bewildered.  It tastes kind of like a fizzy dreamsicle, but with a kick.  Mix this one up when you're feeling reminiscent about childhood.  The blend of orange, berry, and vanilla hearkens back to the melty popsicles of summers long ago, while the note of Tabasco adds another layer and updates the flavor for your matured palette.  Lastly, but most importantly, tequila recreates the excitement of the first few faint notes of that familiar song that meant only one thing: the neighborhood ice cream truck.

Southern Hospitality

~ 1 part Bourbon
~ 1/2 part Triple Sec
~ Dash of Orange Bitters
~ Orange zest (garnish)
(**Bitters can tend to overpower the Triple Sec. Use sparingly)

Feeling a little rowdy? If not, you sure will after you down this dapper drink.  Whether you're lounging on the porch enjoying a nice sunset, or cozied up by the crackling fire in the wintertime, a little Southern Hospitality is all you'll need to cap off the day.

Cheers!

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

(name credit: Yenesey Concepcion)

I've been aching for the long languid lazy luscious days of summer, and this lemonade is just the cure.

Throw these in your glass, in this order:
~a handful of frozen mango cubes
~1 part gin
~2 parts lemonade
~garnish with a fresh basil leaf (bonus points if you can find a mutant double-tipped one like mine!)

Keep this in mind: it may be a long winter, but much like the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, spring will eventually come once again, bringing joy and sunshine.

Till then, you know we'll keep you warm ;)

Goose & Juice

Goose & juice is always good, and is made simply by combining Grey Goose with any kind of juice.

Here, I used grape juice, and poured it all over frozen dark cherries.

YY ~~~~~ Lush-ious Tip of the Day ~~~~~ YY
Use frozen fruit instead of ice cubes.  It won't water down your drink like ice will, and as a bonus you get some alcohol-soaked fruit to snack on at the end!
